I've seen mention that this appears to have been released on CD in Greece.  Any idea where one might go about purchasing a copy online?  I'd try searching in Greek, but it's...well, you know what it is to me.  ;D

You can try here, using google translate, for instance:
http://www.politeianet.gr/books/9789604761401-sullogiko-mouseio-mpenaki-i-autobiografia-kai-to-archeio-tou-alekou-xenou-cd-231991

It seems they sell a book and the CD for only 10.8 euros. If you know the same Greek than myself (zero) the book will not be of any help...
I have absolutely no idea about this site. Searching the web about this composer I have seen information about this CD in another website but I am unable to find it again, sorry.

The cd goes with the biography of the composer, it' s not sold separately. The site you found is a big bookstore in Athens and though i visit it quite regularly, i've  never noticed this book. The symphony of Alekos Xenos is called "Resistance Symphony", it's about the Greek Resistance during the nazi occupation of the country (1941-44). If you need more translations let me know.

Great, thanks.

What about Lyra Records?  I saw mentioned somewhere that they'd recorded a piece of his as well.  But they appear to be out of business now?

Lyra records are out of business and it's really difficult to get some old recordings (e.g Kalomiris' second symphony), though the later ones can easily be found in 2nd hand stores. I don't know if there's a piece of Alekos Xenos recorded by Lyra records, and though i have a very detailed book of greek classical music discography, it only covers the vinyl era until 1991-2.

That's the one I was thinking about, thanks.  Found it listed here:

Hrmm...should I or shouldn't I?  Maybe in a few weeks...I have rather a small pile of CDs to plow through, as yet...
