It is now almost three weeks since Kyjo(Kyle) was active on the forum. I sent him a pm but have had no response.

Does anyone know what has become of him ???

His last post was on February 24, 2014, 02:42:05 and was typical of his awesome musical knowledge.
But nothing out the ordinary. Please keep us posted.
This should be of concern to all the members here..

Indeed! I corresponded regularly with Kyle and he always replied very promptly.

His enthusiasm for such a wide-range of music and his knowledge of the repertoire is phenomenal for someone so relatively young (I hope that does not sound patronising :)).

Surely, if he had been intending to take such an extended break from AMF he would have let us know ???

I hope he comes back: he was one of my favourites. We have a lot of music taste in common (like most of you on this thread). And I hope he's all right. One never knows what is going on in everyone's offline life.

The two members with the highest number of posts on this forum are myself(2280) and Kyle (2189).

Now quantity certainly does not equal quality ;D but the quality of Kyle's observations on the music of the last hundred years in particular demonstrated burning enthusiasm, wide knowledge and excellent perception and judgment.

I do hope that he is ok and that he will be able to return to us soon!!

This is very distressing and is like loosing a close friend..
Does anyone know if he is still receiving mail at his home?

Well, it's less than a month, so there's every chance he will find his way back on here. But if not, I agree, it's a great loss!

has anyone sent him an email?

As I said, I sent him a pm (which should show up in one's email inbox). His email address is hidden. I got no response.

He may have gone off on a business trip to a remote part of Malawi.

The reality of the world of the internet and of internet forums in particular is that members reveal only those parts of their life which they which to make known to others. We gain an insight into their musical tastes and enthusiasms and, if the person, posts a very great deal, we think-from those-that we can build up some kind of vague picture of personality.
But...there can be now certainty. Few of us ever have the opportunity to meet in person-we are scattered all over the world.

I am incredibly fortunate to have been able to meet up with three members of this forum and to be able to call all three friends. In "the flesh" they turned out to be remarkably similiar to the "picture" I had constructed in my mind.

If however a member disappears from a forum permanently or temporarily without explanation all kinds of conjectures are put forward.

There actually is a thread called "En Vacance" in which members who are heading off for a period of absence can indicate this to avoid others being perplexed.

I feel rather lonely in here now :(

Kyjo(Kyle) could always be relied on to respond to one's posts with his boundless, youthful enthusiasm.

The forum is now much quieter without his presence :( :(
