Not Goossens, please! He was soon sent back to Britain a broken man, because of his pornographic ideas. Claudio Arrau suffered much the same fate.

Yes, too bad about Goosens, none the less, I enjoy his music. Percy Granger is another very fine Australian composer who was also accused (possibly unjustly) of unhealthy sexual indulgences. But so much for the distraction.
Another fine Aussie is Arthur Benjamin, but Robert Hughes who is the subject of this thread, is much lesser known. I detect a tad of the Oriental or even Arabic in his music as well, esp the Sinfonietta.
