I must confess to my shame I had never heard of Robert Hughes. Now I have got around to listening to his first symphony and it's really very good. Think John Joubert or George Lloyd at his best. Tense mid C20 with saxophones in the scherzo and finale!
I shall be listening to the other works intently.
