Hughes was, quite assuredly, an Australian composer,,,,,,so further discussion of his music should really take place elsewhere ;D.

Suffice to say that his music IS well worth investigating; as is that of Raymond Hanson-whose Symphony No.1(1952) is another fine example of Australian symphonism from the mid 20th century.
