A great piece, well worth getting to know if you don't already. However... Svetlanov doesn't understand the work. If you can find the Westerberg recording on Swedish Discofil (issued initially on LP, later on CD), you'll be much better off.

We're greatly overdue for a modern recording of the work from a sympathetic conductor and a good orchestra. For that matter, we're greatly overdue for a Rosenberg symphonic cycle, as has been discussed before in this forum!

I think this non commercial posting might useful if someone wanted to sample the piece. It's understandable that Svetlanov was totally out of his venue, but his Slavic interpetation could be useful. Sorry it was not up to snuff, but that was not unexpected.
