I think that was my original point, Roelef, and I am glad that you have reinforced it :)
Whatever one might think of Glass and he seems to have few, if any, supporters here the Symphony No.10 is by far his worst and most unremittingly dreadful orchestral composition. IF he had any redeeming features as a symphonist then he would have been better advised to stop at No.9.

Maybe a thread for composers (20,21st century) who survived more than 9 symphonies is in order? (and possibly any change after the ninth)
Did many have the Beethoven 9 complex? Shostakovitch satirized this in his whimsical and daffy 9th.
