You would think that CPO should respond to enquiries in English but I got no reply to an email a few years ago.

It was just an idea ;D

I wonder if we could persuade one of our German members(Holger or Mathias) to send an email to CPO asking about the David and Kallsteinius ???

I have a notion that the company might be more willing to respond to an enquiry in German :)

Just a thought!
I will ask for on their german facebook side. stay tuned !

Since announcing that they intended to record cycles of music by Rontgen, Pijper and Badings CPO have issued eight Rontgen cds(including a recording of the three cello concertos which duplicates the recording by Etcetera), two Badings and no Pijper.

All I am asking for is balance. I have no objection to the Rontgen but I DO want more Badings and some Pijper ::)

The only unrecorded Joseph Marx orchestral music are the Herbstsymphonie and the Nordland Rhapsodie.

All of Badings and Pijper, most definitely! I recently heard the CPO recording of Badings 12 and adored it.

More on point with the thread title, I certainly like the Hauer I've heard, and his story is compelling. I am automatically somewhat fond of innovators neglected in the standard historical narratives - Abel Decaux, for example.

I am especially fond of Pijper's music but his catalogue indicates he was not very prolific

No, he wasn't, and many of his pieces are quite concise, too - the Piano Concerto is all of 12 minutes.

That helps to explain why his music seems so well crafted..I wonder if he had any students who followed in his footsteps.
His music is unique in a mysterious way and yet very easy to listen to..
