A new composer to me:

Piano Concerto, op. 4; Inventions, op. 2; Piano Sonata; Mazurka and Tango; Maciej Grzybowski, Jakob Fichert and Nico de Villiers, piano; Vienna SO/Paul Daniel

Although André Tchaikowsky (1935–82), Polish-born but based in Britain, was one of the finest pianists of his era, his true calling was as a composer, and this first conspectus of his piano music, features the first recording of his powerful Piano Concerto (1973–75), the epigrammatic Inventions he dedicated to a series of friends, his only mature Piano Sonata and two dances for piano from an incomplete set of six – evidence of the magnitude of the loss from his early death from cancer, aged only 46.

Sounds intriguing, no?

André Tchaikowsky is a pretty interesting composer from the little I've heard. Rather strident style with lots of rhythmic complexity, but still enjoyable stuff. I'll keep my eyes out for this one, for sure. He has to be the only composer that allowed his skull to be used in productions of Hamlet after his death. Just a little interesting tidbit!

There is a recording of the piano concerto with the same performers on André Tchaikowsky's website here: http://andretchaikowsky.com/composer/piano_concerto.htm

I have no idea if this is the same performance on CD. It is rather new, from July of this year.

That's the same recording as the one I provided in my link above, and it's the same concerto as the one on the Toccata Classics CD. There is an earlier one, yes, but as far as I know, the only recording it has is on André Tchaikowsky's website. You can hear it here:

Yes, I should have noticed the Opus 4 designation, since the other references did not indicate PC 1 of 2.

While we are on the subect of lesser known Tchaikovskys, perhaps some one can originate a
thread on the other lesser known, namely Boris and Alexander..2 fine composers..
