Ondine continues doing Lindberg a great service in this forthcoming disc of his orchestral works:

Violin Concerto (24 minutes); Jubilees for orchestra (17 minutes); Souvenir for orchestra (25 minutes); Pekka Kuusisto, violin and director in the VC; Tapiola Sinfonietta/composer

The VC has already been recorded by Lisa Batiashvili on Sony, but Jubilees and Souvenir are world premiere recordings. A must-buy for me!

I've heard bits of Jubilees and I once heard Souvenirs on a BBC broadcast with Matthias Pintscher conducting (too bad it was low sound quality). Jubilees is a harder-edged piece that is more like Lindberg of the 90s. Very textural, not very tonal, but still very engaging. Souvenir is a great work for chamber orchestra that is like a miniature concerto for orchestra. Lots of drama and romanticism, but still very Lindberg. Now, his newest pieces Era and Red House need to be recorded, particularly the latter, which is probably my favorite Lindberg work of the past 10 years. Too bad the performance I heard was pretty sloppy (as can be expected from the world premiere of a very difficult work). Needless to say, I'm extremely excited for any new Lindberg!
