David Matthews wrote a big choral work between 1993 and 1996: his Vespers, op.66. It lasts for 45 minutes and is scored for mezzo-soprano, tenor, chorus and large orchestra and lasts for 45 minutes. It is probably Matthews's most important previously unrecorded composition.

The good news is that the Vespers are being recorded this summer by the Bach Choir and the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra under David Hill and will be issued by Dutton later this year coupled with the Seventh Symphony(which was recorded two years ago).

What on earth do you mean by that ??? ???  "Redundant" ??? ???

I was trying to indicate that this is a substantial work by providing information about the work taken from the David Matthews website.

I could have provided a link to the appropriate page, I suppose ::)

Sorry Colin, I meant "redundant" as in you saying "it lasts for 45 minutes" twice in the same sentence. Silly of me to make that remark, I guess :-[

VERY SILLY of me not to read what I write ::) ::)

I guess that I am just so very tired (I am suffering from one of my periodic bouts of cluster headaches :( :() at the moment that I am making silly mistakes :-[

(and I was so very very angry after reading the review of "A Vision  of the Sea" I linked to in my other post).

Quite alright, Colin :) Headaches make me quite cranky, so I don't blame you! I read that review you linked to-that is a perfect example of why I try to abstain from reading critics' reviews. Disgraceful >:( No wonder that the classical music scene is suffering ::)
