Wieslander, (Axel Otto) Ingvar, Swedish composer and conductor; b. Jönköping, May 19,1917; d. Malmö, April 29, 1963. He received training in theory from Sven Svensson at the Univ. of Uppsala. He also took some lessons in composition with Lars-Erik Lars-son. After training at the Stockholm Musikhögskolan (conducting with Tor Mann; music teacher’s diploma, 1945), he completed his studies in Paris on a French scholarship (1947-48) with Tony Aubin (composition) and Eugène Bigot (conducting). From 1949 to 1960 he was director of music at the Malmö City Theater, and then was its chorus master from 1960 to 1963.
I would say this symphony is a polar opposite of most of Larsson's music..but certainly not to discredit either man.
