Hello, does anyone know a recording (maybe in an archive somewhere, or of a broadcast performance) of Joseph Marx Herbstsymphonie? There seems to be no commercial recording.

Yes, it's on YouTube; just input "marx eine herbstsymphonie" and the files will appear.

Only excerpts can be found on YouTube (from the Swierczewski performance; 27 minutes total). To get the whole thing, you have to purchase either of these two mp3 albums: http://www.amazon.com/Marx-Eine-Herbstsymphonie/dp/B003XMAF8O/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1370963688&sr=1-1&keywords=marx+herbstsymphonie and http://www.micmacmusic.com/product_info.php?products_id=659

Music simply doesn't get more intoxicatingly sumptuous than this-it really cries out for an SACD recording! Botstein's performance (the one available from Amazon) is a little on the quick side, but he does prevent the symphony from getting bogged down. The other performance, under Michel Swierczewski, is considerably more spacious than Botstein's account and he isn't afraid to wallow here and there. In fact, Swierczewski's performance tops out at 74 minutes, as opposed to Botstein's 59! There's little to choose between the two performances; I would recommend getting both if possible. I, personally, prefer Swierczewski's account by a small margin but I know others will prefer Botstein.

good news from CPO:
cpo.de - Classic Production Osnabrück - a recording of Autumn Symphony is now scheduled by our producer , is looking for the suitable orchestra ( probably the RSO ), of course, then take some time before it is published , but the Herbstsymphonie will appear determined to cpo . (translated from German with babelfish)
