Slightly 'off topic', but couldn't see where else to put it - 'help for forum users' seemed to have no new thread button - does anyone know of downloaders that will capture videos from sites other than You Tube ?
Being a bit greedy really, as my MP3 Rocket Pro has presented me with maybe thousands of hours of lovely music from YT, but do sometimes see very desirable things (no,just music, nothing rude, honest !) on other sites & wish they could join the collection.
Any thoughts (polite !) gratefully received.

One solution is to record the music as it streams through your sound card. Of course, any other sound your computer makes at the same time will be recorded, so you have to turn off things like email alerts.

Depending on your system, you may be able to use Audacity with the sound card as source. Otherwise there is a program called Freecorder which does the job.

Movavi Screen Capture will do it, too.  Although it's not free but not expensive either.  And as; Gauk pointed out, you have to close other programs that might make sounds during your "capture" - like AOL - YOU'VE GOT MAIL.....etc.....

. . . does anyone know of downloaders that will capture videos from sites other than You Tube? . . .

"Flash Video Downloader" works well for me, not just for U-tube but for all sorts of things:

I use it as a Firefox extension, but it seems to be compatible with other browsers. It displays a little blue arrow when videos are available on a page, and you can see a list of them all, with their various types and sizes. After you choose the one you want to download, progress is reported in the normal download panel.

TotalRecorder will block about 99% of extraneous sounds while recording, without having to shut off anything.

Make sure to turn off the windows sounds (mouse, etc..) when you record real time..
