The Swedish Announcement Preface appears to say "IN MEMORIAM to ERIK LARS-LARSSON." Could someone please verify? This is very powerful, angry piece..

Well, only insofar as he was a pupil of Lars-Erik Larsson, but Larsson died in '86, & this symphony seems to be from 10(?) years later.
Marvellous resource, that Swedish Radio 'midnight' slot. Always welcome a steer to something else exceptional there, thanks !

Perhaps the narrative said Eklund was a pupil..I cant understand it.. Yes, a great selection of music..The generally post things well in advance and I check it at least twice a week.

The announcer said that the work was written in 1995 and that Eklund was Larssons pupil in the early 1950s.

Thank you, Mr. Britishcomposer - that's that solved ! Still a fine piece of work, & a great place to listen to it, and others such.
Mr. Jolly Roger - look forward to hearing of other things you discover on the site; will try to remember to look myself, but won't be as conscientious as twice a week !

Note the reference to the Dies irae chant about 18 mins in, which I guess is indicative of the work's memorial nature. The title "Sinfonia Piccola" hardly seems appropriate though.
