Leibowitz, better known as a conductor (especially of the Beethoven symphonies), was one of the few French composers of the time who exploited the twelve-tone method of the Second Viennese School in his compositions. His music has not fared too well on disc, so this 2-disc set from Divox containing his Violin Concerto and a variety of chamber music is quite welcome, even if I am not sure I will find the music to be easy listening. At the moment, I am not sure what chamber works are included in the set.
