Here are a couple of scenes from Willy Decker's Spanish production of Death in Venice. The "Dream Sequence" I am told. I do not think they are exactly what Mann had in mind. Nor Visconti for that matter. But how about Britten? Would they have pleased him? (I myself have not seen the score and cannot say.)


The Lord Chamberlain's duty to review was abolished in 1968.

And here one may see a different production of the opera - complete, and rather a good one, sung in English at Glyndebourne in 1989.





Its duration is two hours seventeen minutes and forty-two seconds; and the file size 532,212,199 bytes. The "youtube" business is certainly improving!
