What do people think about Met reviving pasticcio genre.

It sounded strange to me, but I can understand why it is attractive idea. People love baroque music but plots can be strange.

In 18th century other composers (Mozart ) wrote numbers in other composer's operas. Handel did his own pasticcio operas. Now there is music of many composers combined to make another opera.

Gelb says that it's deliberately dumbed-down - it "doesn't take itself too seriously".

I'm sure the New Yorkers will just lurve it.
