No, it's not meant personal. The ones really to be bashed are the DG's with their endless back catalogue releases and their Netrebko preoccupations etc.
Regarding cpo there's a saying in Dutch 'veel beloven, weinig geven, doet de gek in vreugde leven'. I don't know the right translation, but goes a bit like 'promise much, give little, and the fool will live happyly'. That's how I see cpo a bit  ;D

I guess the best way to listen to this Danacord series of Glass is with headphones.... just doesn't work in the car CD player.....

Sounds like someone needs to burgle the archives of the Aarhus SO ...

Of the symphonies I've heard, the 3rd is the most attractive by far. I've also listened to some of his piano music and string quartets, which I'm afraid didn't make a big impression.

I would have to agree with your on that!   The 3rd symphony on CPO is by far the best.  I don't think it sounds like "My Favorite Martian" TV show theme song... I'll research that.

I like the third in it's Cpo recording. It's a lovely, later romantic symphony. I like the coupling, too;which I think is probably even finer!! I will reserve judgement on the other symphonies until Cpo,hopefully, release another volume in the  series. I have never seen My Favourite Martian;but I am aware that Bill Bixby of Incredible Hulk fame (Please...don't make me angry!) was amongst the cast! I will have to play the opening on Youtube when I've got a free moment, and hear for myself!

I just listened to Glass' Third Symphony in its new CPO recording recently - it's a lovely, if not earth-shattering, work with a recurring motto theme that haunts the memory. I see CPO has just released a recording of his Fifth Symphony.
