During one of my occasionally successful trawls of charity shop music shelves this morning I came across a disc of Tucapsky choral works. I had, of course, never heard of him, but I'm sure some of you will have, and just possibly someone may have some uploadable work.
On this disc (at the princely sum of £1 !) is 'The Sacrifice', 'Five Lenten Motets', 'Lauds' & 'The Seven Sorrows'. Looking on his website there are a good few substantial looking cantatas etc. which should be lovely, as are the short pieces I've subsequently found on YT.
Got a Howard Skempton disc as well, and one of Max Reger organ works recorded in the Riga Dom.
One of my better mornings - does anyone else have a scour through such shops from time to time ?

Does your purchase give any biographical details on him, such as dates and where he's from?

He was born in 1928 in Czechoslovakia and has lived in Great Britain since 1975. Here is his official website: http://antonintucapsky.harra.net/en.htm

On the Somm label (SOMMCD221) are a Violin concerto and a Viola concerto

Thanks very much for reminding me of that CD, Roelof! I see there's also a Somm recording of his Stabat Mater and Cantata Mary Magdalene:

There's also this Somm disc of some more of his choral/orchestral and orchestral works:

Here's a MusicWeb review of the concertos disc: http://www.musicweb-international.com/classRev/2003/Nov03/tucapsky.htm

Definitely a composer I need to investigate!

I didn't know there were any CD recordings, but I have been curious to hear some of his own works after doing his adaptation of Janacek's 'Oce Nas' (Roberton) with several choirs. He certainly looks worth investigating.
