I heard Ogura's (1916-1990) Symphony in G (1968) on a super-rare Japanese CD (not available from Japanese Amazon, I checked) that had somehow made its way to my local library and I found it a most delightful and enjoyable composition. It is fully tonal with breezy, cheerful outer movements and a rather Mahlerian slow movement at its heart. Fortunately, this wonderful work has been put up on YouTube for us all to enjoy:

I also found a short Violin Sonata of his available to download from Amazon:

I: http://www.amazon.com/Roh-Ogura-Sonata-Violin-Allegro/dp/B008S799PY/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1359072261&sr=8-4&keywords=ogura+violin

II: http://www.amazon.com/Roh-Ogura-Sonata-Violin-Piano/dp/B008S79A08/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1359072261&sr=8-2&keywords=ogura+violin

III: http://www.amazon.com/Roh-Ogura-Sonata-Violin-Allegretto/dp/B008S79AIK/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1359072261&sr=8-5&keywords=ogura+violin

Also, there's at least one solo piano piece by Ogura on this Camerata CD: http://www.amazon.com/Light-Colored-Album-Piano-Miyoshi/dp/B000001ZJG/ref=sr_1_3?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1359072874&sr=1-3&keywords=ro+ogura

You're welcome! Checking Mike Herman's discography, yes, there is a Fontec recording of the Symphony which I was not aware of: http://www.musicweb-international.com/Ntl_discogs/Asian_symphonies/Asian_Symphonies.htm#OGURA It's on a 2-disc set with other orchestral works of his. I'd really like to get this set, but Fontec CDs are extremely difficult to get ahold of :(

The CD of the symphony that is at my library was not that Fontec set (I forget its label). It's so obscure that even Mike Herman's discography does not list it ::) I do remember almost the entire cover and booklet being in Japanese and that it was coupled with Toshiro Mayuzumi's Nirvana Symphony (a rather strange work, to say the least).

  Hello Toby,

Sorry about late response. I have recording of symphony. But I can't upload it because my recording is available by CD.
Please contact to me if you still need this recording. I will upload it for you privately.
