Obviously, of chief interest here is a work for the rarely-used basset clarinet and orchestra by Uzbekistani-born Australian composer Elena Kats-Chernin (b. 1957) titled
Ornamental Air (2007, 22 minutes). One of the most prominent living Australian composers, Kats-Chernin writes in a melodic, highly accessible style. If you haven't already, please check out this highly enjoyable ABC Classics CD of her Ballet Suite
