More recordings of Korngold's lovely music is always welcome, as will be this upcoming release from Ondine :). This two-disc set will feature the world premiere recording of the complete incidental music (44 minutes) to "Much Ado About Nothing"! All that has ever been recorded of this music up to this point is the brief suite consisting of five excerpts from the incidental music. Occupying the second disc is what is really Korngold's first symphony, his lengthy Sinfonietta (44 minutes in this recording). It shall be highly enjoyable to hear another performance of this lush piece :). The performers are the Helsinki PO under John Storgards. See here: http://www.ondine.net/?lid=en&cid=2.2&oid=4918

Welcome news, thanks! The suite from Much Ado About Nothing has been recorded several times, but it will be good to have the complete score in proper sequence.

All that has ever been recorded of this music up to this point is the brief suite consisting of five excerpts from the incidental music.

In their excellent, but sadly deleted, Korngold series (with the Bruckner Orchester Linz under Caspar Richter) ASV were a bit more adventurous, recording nine numbers across two CDs (CD DCA 1131 and 1146)

No.1: Ouverture
No.3: Mummenschanz - Prelude to Act 2
No.4: Festmusik - Act 2, Scene 1
No.6: Gartenmusik - Prelude to Act 3
No.7: Intermezzo
No.8: Holzapfel und Schlehwein - Prelude to Act 3, Scene 2
No.9: Madchen im Brautgemach - Prelude to Act 4
No.12: Trauermusik - Prelude to Act 5
No.14: Schlusstanz - Finale to Act 5
