José Antonio Abreu, a Venezolan composer, (born 1939) is a very remarkable man. He invented 'La Sistema'. His idea: children learning and playing music stay out of trouble, wll be no member of streetgangs etc. For the sole reason that music education brings the best in people. So he, and others with him, created Youth and Childrens Symphony Orchestras and choirs.
He won numerous prizes, all over the world, and was a candidate for the Nobel Peace Price.
Well, this man also wrote music, of course, and as far I know wrote two symphonies (one of them is the Sinfonia neoclassica). There is only a little to be found about his muscal writings, so may be the members of our forum can help.
I feel it is time to give his 'little known composer' a place in our community.

Wow - the inventor of the 'system' ! What foresight - and what a wonderful effect on his country ! He deserves a place on any music site, & it'll be interesting to see if any of his music's out there. Thank you.
