There seems to have been a positive explosion of posts over the last few hours expressing the joy of members at the prospect of new recordings of music by Holbrooke, Rabaud, Hofmann, Sgambati :)
Can I say how pleased I am that others are so happy ;D
Mayhap all this music will turn out to be wonderful.......I certainly hope so :)
......(but) you know where I stand on this issue. All I ever ask is balance. Let us have this sort of music by all means......but a dose of slightly "tougher" stuff would not go amiss too.
Sgambati ??? Ok.....but Malipiero too please :)
Holbrooke......yes....but what about some...(you know who I mean by now ;D)

Yes, Colin, I see your point and sympathize with you, knowing you to be a lover of accessible (and sometimes not!) 20th century symphonism :). To be honest, I am slightly more conservative musically than you (late-romantic music is my speciality), but, yes, I too would like to see more of a balance (meaning no less romantic CDs, but more modern CDs in addition). We'll just have to see what the future brings...

Just don't mention William Alwyn. He's far too progressive (apparently)! :o
Don't spend too much time reading UC posts. You could be done for 'loitering with intent! ;D

Yes, I was rather schocked about Alwyn being out of the remit of the forum :o! A member presents a heartwarming story about an unsung piece (Alwyn's beautiful and fully tonal "Lyra Angelica" in this case) being warmly received by an audience only to be put down by a moderator >:(!
