It ought to make sense to the record companies - if people are going to buy Arnell, the same people are going to buy Jones, you would think.
That may or may not be true- I simply don't know, although I certainly hope that it would be the case. The problem comes down to money (as ever). A record company will be lucky to make much of a profit on sales of a symphonic cycle by a relatively obscure British composer. What it cannot afford to do is to make a substantial loss. If somebody or some organization has offered a substantial subsidy for the recording then the company will consider the idea. Who subsidised the Arnell recordings is a secret between Dutton and.....
If this was Germany then a company like CPO would enter into a partnership agreement with BBC Wales. The BBC NOW play all the Jones symphonies on radio and CPO issue the recordings.
But this is not Germany :(
