Presumably in the Herbert von Karajan recording? ;)

Absolutely anything by Eunoudi, his music is the same, the same chords, the same harmonies, the same tune. !!!

I'm a bit surprised by your suggestion, Sydney, given some of the other music you like. How so? It's certainly not my favourite Mahler, but the first movement certainly has something going for it. Mind you, if Strauss' Four last songs was also on your hit-list, I'd probably half-get the point. But Mahler music is somewhat more economical . . .

Is the question phrased from the viewpoint of the listener, or the performer?
I think trombonists might feel DON GIOVANNI is the dullest evening you might spend behind a brass instrument, yet audiences like the piece :)

Absolutely anything by Eunoudi, his music is the same, the same chords, the same harmonies, the same tune. !!! It's Ein audi, by the way - not that this minor fact makes the stuff any more acceptable, let alone appealing! If Ludovico, then van Beethovenio, methinks...

Our suggestion: Gustav Mahler, Song of the Earth. "Our" suggestion? Mon Dieu! The thought that just one person would suggest this as the most boring music ever written is quite horrifying and disspiriting enough; that more than one now does so borders on the unbearable!

Is the question phrased from the viewpoint of the listener, or the performer? I wouldn't presume to speak for Syd, of course, but I imagine that he phrased the question from the viewpoint of the listener (and I'm sure that he'll correct me if I misunderstood him on that). Whilst I'll obviously be relieved if my own name stays off this list, I must confess that, if ever I managed to write a piece as boring as Das Lied von der Erde, I'd be very happy indeed!
