Northwest coast of Africa extending eastward to the Sudan. Since 1957 it included Togo. It is now however broken up into a number of independent states. Languages: Sudanese, Hamitic, Arabic and French. Capital: Dakar.

Monetary System: 100 Centimes = 1 Franc.
