A land-locked country in central South America containing the highest heavily polulated areas in the world, over half the inhabitants living at altitudes above 10,000 feet. Chief industry is mining and the major products is tin. Area: 424,162 square miles. Languages: Spanish, Indian. Capitals: La Paz (administrative) and Sucre (Constitutional).

I. Pre-Decimal coinage to 1863: 16 Soles = 1 Scudo

II. Decimal coinage to 1962: 100 Centavos = 1 Boliviano
