Stephen Schwarz - who has been a mainstay on Broadway for some years, and whose WICKED has triumphed on three continents - is to write his first opera.

Called SEANCE ON A WET AFTERNOON, it's the story of a Medium, her husband, and their son.

The opera has a website here (ahead of its opening):

The plot similarities between this and Menotti's seminal American opera THE MEDIUM (itself written to be staged on Broadway, with a pit-sized orchestra) seem rather, err, coincidental?
