I am very interested in Slonimsky. I am a bit confused though with Slonimsky's family.
I knew composer Slonimsky, then there is critic Slonimsky and there is modern composer Slonimsky I think.
Though I know Slonimsky's name (he was Soviet composer I thought) I am not clear about it. Is it possible to have it on download?
I would appreciate if people can explain to me about this composer and critic.
Thank you.

The critic is Nicolas Slonimsky (1894–1995), who lived in the US most of his life. He is the uncle of Sergei Slonimsky (b. 1932), who is living in St. Petersburg and has turned out to be a very prolific composer of symphonies in the last ten years or so (he already wrote quite a number of them before, but his 11th is from 2003 and now he has reached more than 30 symphonies!).

Thank you very much for your reply Mr Holger.
I knew Sergei Slonimsky's music. It appeared sometimes in books for children.
There is one example here, but I played different ones.
I remember playing and seeing more singing and more traditional pieces. It is interesting to discover many sides of the same composer. It is good to remember that composers had to adopt to the current political situation in the USSR. But most composers could write in many different genres so to say and many different styles.
I am very excited to see familiar names that I haven't seen for a very long time. I am very interested to hear Slonimsky's symphonies.
And thank you again for clarifying my mix up with the two Slonimskys. I am afraid that Slonimsky the critic wasn't available for us while I was studying.

Sergei Slonimsky's Spring Concerto (Concerto Primaverile) for violin and string orchestra is available over at UC in the archives under Russian and Soviet Composers.

I have uploaded my post from UC of the Slonimsky Spring Concerto for convenience. Note that this is the complete concerto and not the fragment found on other sites.

Were you ever able to get the movement titles for it, Fr8nk? I've given up. :(

I once attended an evening with Nicolas Slonimsky. Three things I particularly recall:
1) He wore a tie that looked like a salmon. 2) He was very reluctant to play any of his own music, and was rather denigrating about it. 3) What he did play of his own music was very attractive.

I always find releases like this somewhat frustrating. Very welcome, but....why couldn't it have been one of Slonimsky's previously unrecorded symphonies? Brian
