16  Assorted items / Commercial recordings (vintage, new and forthcoming) / Re: Ongoing CPO projects. on: February 15, 2018, 12:42:37 pm
I can't wait for a new Alfven cycle. He's the "creme dela creme" of the swedish romantics, better than Atterberg or Peterson-Berger.  You mentioned Hilding Rosenberg, most of his symphonies are aviable, and i think it's redundant music. Alan Pettersson is the FINEST swedish symphonist !!!!!!!

the reason for those delays are mostly, that CPO sets value on an academic funded booklet text, as Schmilgun once said. one reason more not to buy those cds. !!!!

Nice disk. Vanishing Midnight is really a wonderful romantic piece with impressionistic influences, worth hearing. The other two pieces are not on that level, actually redundant and not relevant.  ::)

20  Assorted items / Commercial recordings (vintage, new and forthcoming) / Re: New Richard Rodney Bennett Series on Chandos on: September 29, 2017, 09:32:42 am
pah - previous releases of his orchestral works under Hickox and dePreist attest, that his music is emotionless and uninteresting - definitely not relevant !
21  Assorted items / Commercial recordings (vintage, new and forthcoming) / Re: Havergal Brian's Symphonies Nos. 8, 21 and 26 from Naxos on: September 16, 2017, 12:14:08 pm

Nah,Bryden Thomson's the best! ;D :)
i don't think so, Thomsons great attention to details let him lose sight of the entire structures of the works :(

I have three versions of the Bax Symphony No.2 (Bryden Thomson, David lloy-Jones and Myer Fredman). I do not really think that I need a fourth.

However, depending on the quality of the performance by Goossens this news may please Baxians :)

you forgot the best: Vernon Handley :)
