1  Little-known music of all eras / Coming broadcasts and listen-later links / Re: Grace Williams - Missa Cambrensis on: March 27, 2016, 07:50:42 pm
According to this month's Gramophone, this performance was recorded by Lyrita for release in August this year

Great news! I was lucky enough to be in the hall for this concert, it was quite an experience. Such a major work needs to be on CD.

Yes, good news indeed. The off air recording is badly marred by the tenor frequently not hitting his notes, I assume he had a cold and sore throat. I think it is a marvellous work and look forward to a good recording.

Do you mean the bass, who had laryngitis? (an announcement was made to that effect before the performance)

I am seriously considering it - it's a bit of a trek from Wales but I could probably make the Sunday morning performance without having to get any time off work!

Yet one artist - Lady Gaga - scored 1 million plays for one track - yet received just 108 pounds for doing so.

Sounds plenty to me, considering how little talent and effort went into it. She's hardly short of cash anyway...

I've just noticed that Daniel Jones' cello concerto will be performed in St Asaph Cathedral on 29 Sep by Paul Watkins and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales - hopefully it will be broadcast on R3!

So glad to find this here! For a while I was worried all this wonderful music was lost for ever after it disappeared from the "other place", so it's a relief to stumble across this site. I have many hours of happy listening to look forward to  Smiley
