Assorted items / Individual composers / Re: Penderecki Symphony no 6

Found by random web search, dated Jan 30 (2013?):
"I understand that Penderecki's Sixth Symphony is to be premiered this weekend in München with James Levine as conductor. Would like to hear any feedback from anyone who's able to attend."
Can anybody verify or otherwise elaborate on this?

Assorted items / Individual composers / Penderecki Symphony no 6

Out of sheer idle curiosity rather than any particular need to know, can anybody here, better informed than me, tell me exactly what's on the go with Penderecki's sixth symphony? I gather that for some reason it lies in a Petterssonian state of incompletion, and that's as much as I know. Its absence from my recently acquired Naxos box is an offence to my sense of symmetry and wholeness...

Many thanks to you, Jowcol, as well as the ubiquitous Mr Miller, for the Antheil, Blackwood, and Bolcolm selections, most especially the Blackwood, for whose music (as you've probably gathered by now) I've developed a bit of an obsession. I really wish Cedille would record the middle three symphonies, but until then I'll happily depend on your generosity. Any of Blackwood's microtonal works would be happily and gratefully received!

Thanks Gauk. I've downloaded both but haven't yet properly listened to them (the great drawback of my rather orgiastic down loading activities-there's often a significant gap between when I download something and when I actually listen to it).

While trawling (not trolling) through the UC Downloads Archive earlier tonight, attempting to retrieve a few more performances before they vanish into the ether, I discovered that several pieces by Romanian composer Paul Richter (symphonies 3 & 5 and suite no 2), originally posted, I believe, by Fr8nks, are no longer available. I wonder if anybody would be able to either restore the UC links or re-upload these files here? Many thanks!

I am probably less well informed than you erudite gentlemen on the life and times of T. Khrennikov, other than a very generalized awareness of his reputation as a musico-political ogre and generally unsavoury character, but I must confess, I do enjoy his music (sorry, Tapiola!). Why, indeed, should the devil have all the best tunes?
