Never heard Honegger's "Nicolas de Flue". Just found its name in some book on French modern music. Quite unbelievable why is not (better) known. It's a georgeous work, and yes the ending is the absolute top!
Thanks for the upload

Elroel
Yes, definitely a winner, thanks !

Oh dear, Mr. Jowcol, had better download your jazz themed music before we are all summararily banned ! Sure it's well up to the standards of the lovely music you've presented us with in the past Thank you.

Great 'steer', thank you ! Another 'new' country for my downloads file.

If no uploads are available for now, you can listen to the piano concerto from El-Shawan Aziz (1916-83) in youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CaRnf_Omawo and the symphony-ballet Osiris from Gamal Abdel-Rahim (1924-88) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=teN8v4Zg73k. This last work I like a lot.
Well discovered - thank you !

Gentemen - & particularly Mr. Latvian - you cannot imagine how much hard work this magnificent thread is providing for an ignoramus willing to learn.
Thought I'd done pretty well 'sorting' the Barisons uploads in 40 mins, or so; sifting out what I've got, what I want and whether I agree with any/everyone's opinion on what's best etc. for the recent uploads will take much of a day....and won't it be a wonderful way to spend it !

Being part this this and other such music sites has been as much fun as I've had in years (yeah, I know, need to get out more !). Many thanks to all.

No worries, Mr. Kyjo - that's the purpose of emerging from 'lurking', & putting up a few things where people can say 'Rubbish ! Impossible' or maybe something like 'Why don't we start an Egyptian thread?'
Now that I'll happily go with, if anyone has such wonders that could be uploaded !
787  MEMBERS' CORNER / Members' wish lists & requests / Re: Wish/request ! on: August 18, 2012, 10:27:51 pm
Many thanks to those who took time & trouble to respond to my 'moan'.
Suppose the bottom line is; does anyone actually care about a certain composer's collected oeuvres, in the sure knowledge that they're never going to hear a note of that composer's quality without somehow raiding the family heirlooms.
i.e. - are all the recipients here sufficient music 'geeks'  to be fascinated by what some unknown and unknowable produced, or would we rather be finding out about folk whom we could somehow follow and 'discover' on the Net.

Sorry, contentious stuff; should moderate the G&Ts.

Let's get this board started ! 'Cheeky' wish - tell me if inappropriate.
Briefly, many 'new' composers here; even with a bit of research, difficult to find any of their music to see whether to take interest further...maybe even buy something.
Is it possible, with someone like Yusef Greiss, whose catalogue has just been uploaded, to include either a small example of their work, or a full upload, or an indication of where something might be found. Interest whetted in Greiss, but how to take it further ?

Sorry - hope that makes sense; any thoughts ?

Gee - Mr. Latvian, what an extraordinary upload ! Taken me 40+ minutes to download & arrange the pieces, never mind listen to any.
Quite fantastic, thanks !
790  INDICES / Composer reference / Re: Composer Catalogues: Orchestral and Choral/Orchestral Music on: August 17, 2012, 10:21:15 am
Well done & much thanks to Mr. Dundonnell for all his efforts with the composer categorisation - I've 'favourited' their new home already ! Glad to see some of the 'new' names on the list

Regarding future organisation of such lists - if it's easily possible, I'd put my 2 pence-worth in favour of a nationality, then alphabetical split.

Many thanks.

Some of you may recognise me as shamokin88, a user name for the Other Place.

I've trouble enough remembering a couple of user names/passwords, never mind a new one everywhere I venture.
Still, good to know who you are/were at UC. Reckon we'll almost all be here soon !

On a v. brief 'skim through', pleasant indeed, thanks !

Hello to all :)

I suspect that those of you who know what has happened over at Unsung Composers and, specifically, the fact that I was summarily banned from that forum after eleven months of-I sincerely hope and believe-useful contributions to that forum will not be at all surprised to see me joining this forum ;D

It will be fantastic to continue our friendships and our mutual respect for musical tastes which, though they may differ in specifics, are linked together by a common love of Music as one of the greatest (if not the greatest) of art forms.

Dundonnell.
Mr. Dundonnell - can't quite believe what I'm reading from you ! Your immensely scholarly contributions to UC, though I never did/will get round to reading them fully (!), were hugely appreciated.
I have no clue, or wish to have, of what must have gone on 'behind the scenes' at that Forum, but am mightily relieved to see so many familiar 'names' popping up almost immediately over here, with the promise of more lovely music, and a bit of learning for those of us who are still depressingly ignorant.
Long live The A-MF !

Dear 'Administration'.
Right - found you ! Great for me...probably less so for everyone else.
Have loved UC, & hopefully will still find lots of interest there, but have been increasingly enjoying the slightly 'edgier' works which it seems will still be accommodated here. I look forward to increasing my knowledge of such music, &, it appears, many other 'art' topics besides.
Many thanks indeed to you, and to all your uploaders/contributors !
