-"The Year 1905", opera (1935, with Davidenko (whoever that is!)) Alexander Alexandrovich Davidenko (Odessa 1899 - Moscu 1934) I am quoting Grove: "Most of his compositions are choral; all his work is closely bound up with the stormy atmosphere of the twenties. His music has a vividly expressed folksong element, a poster quatlity, bold melodic outlines and polyphony which combines Russian folk with Western traditions; the harmony is fresh and inventive. Although dated in theme, his works have retained their value and have had a definite influence on the choral writing of Shostakovich, Sviridov and other Soviet composers". Some short choral works where available in an Olympia CD some years ago. Furthermore patriotic songs of Davidenko and Shekter can be found at sovmusic.ru, unfortunately the composer search doesn't seem to work in English...

I was wondering if it would be possible, to reiterate my request in the other forum, to either put movement information with your download posts, or, if you can't come up with it until later, please post it here? About Constantinidis works: Asia Minor Rhapsody: I. Preludio (7'10) II. Intermezzo (3'26) III. Finale (7'39) Dodecanecian Suite n.1: I. Andante sostenuto (3'09) II. Con moto (1' 12) III. Allegro placevole - Vivo e giocoso (2'09) IV. Andante mesto (3'24) V. Andantino quasi parlando - Allegretto semplice (2' 31) VI. Andante lento -Allegro vivo ma non troppo

Hi to all,
If I can understand perfectly the decision of UC administrators to remain focused in their area of interest, it was nonetheles a big deception for me :(, not only to be unable to explore new XX century music but because the little contribution I coud do (I am no music expert) will no longer be possible, as practically all my radio recordings fall outside the new rules. As most of you, I like romantic music, wathever the definition, but also a lot of music that is definitively not romantic from Hindemith to Messiaen, Villa-Lobos to Ifukube. Many cheers to Sydney!! :)
