Title: Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco Post by: greek on April 25, 2022, 11:47:23 am Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco was born in Florence in 1895. His early compositions, often considered too "progressive" by audiences, were influenced by Pizzetti's austere contrapuntalism, Debussy's Impressionism and the neo-classicism of Ravel. He also experimented with unconventional harmonies, and developed a distinctively refined vocabulary based on successions of parallel chords, polytonal blocks of sound and a fluent counterpoint.
He wrote two piano quintets: The first piano quintet is opus 69 in F major (1932). There are four movements: 1. Lento e Sognante 2. Andante 3. Scherzo (Leggero e Danzante) 4. Vivo e Impetuoso http://youtu.be/M9T6ALAwsd4 (http://youtu.be/M9T6ALAwsd4) The work was played by Massimo Bianchi (pianist) and the Aron Quartet. The second, "Memories of the Tuscan Countryside", is opus 155 from 1951. There are four parts: 1. Le colline (Sereno e scorrevole) 2. I cipressi (Lento e Grave) 3. Processione nel mese di Maria (Allegretto innocente) 4. La mietitura (Vivace e ritmico) This work too was played by Massimo Bianchi (pianist) and the Aron Quartet. http://youtu.be/qYdtgKJq3wA (http://youtu.be/qYdtgKJq3wA) Title: Re: Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco Post by: Toby Esterhase on April 26, 2022, 03:47:17 am Castelnuovo-Tedesco was an italian composer of jewish heritage ,the persecution during Fascism and then exile made him forget at home https://mariocastelnuovotedesco.com/biography/ |
