Title: Ruth Gipps BBC Radio 3 Post by: jonah on February 17, 2021, 12:32:04 pm Good news, courtesy the March edition of BBC Music - Ruth Gipps is BBC Radio 3 Composer of the Week 8th to 12th March, 12 noon to 1pm every day.
In addition, on Monday 8th, from 7:30pm to 10pm, a concert is being broadcast from Watford Coliseum of Gipps’ Chanticleer Overture, Symphony 2, Byrd Variations, Tragic Celebration and Sinfonia Pacifica, plus Cecile Marti’s Wave Trip, played by BBC Concert Orchestra conducted by Jessica Horsley. Could someone please record this for sharing here? Title: Re: Ruth Gipps BBC Radio 3 Post by: guest145 on February 17, 2021, 12:33:38 pm Wow! I'd love to hear this!
Title: Re: Ruth Gipps BBC Radio 3 Post by: jonah on February 17, 2021, 12:38:02 pm Further to my original post, I think that the Sinfonia Pacifica must be by Peggy Granville-Hicks, as I can find no trace of a similarly titled work by Gipps.

That's great, thanks for the heads-up! Five hours is a lot of air-time to fill - there may be some specially-recorded material for the archive, you never know (Symphony No.5?)... ;D Title: Re: Ruth Gipps BBC Radio 3 Post by: guest377 on May 09, 2021, 08:36:48 pm hm we don't have Radio 3 here in the USA.. we do have various classical music radio stations... but rarely do they play any British music say for Elgar..
