Title: Torbjorn Iwan Lundquist (1920-2000): Symphonies Nos. 3 and 4

If (like me) you are a bit of a sucker for gloomy, rather grim Scandinavian symphonies of the Allan Pettersson variety you might be interested in this Sterling reissue of radio broadcasts of two symphonies by the Swedish composer Torbjorn Iwan Lundquist.

The symphonies are serious works which repay careful listening. Not masterpieces perhaps but certainly to my particular taste.

Might be tempted by this. I used to have the Lundquist 3rd Symphony on record, an attractive piece, more pastoral than any Petersson, to my ear closer to Larsson, Wiren or Rosenberg's 6th.

You are quite right. These are better comparisons.
