Title: Scholz and Rheinberger Piano Concertos on Radio 3 Afternoon Concert
Post by: patmos.beje on April 19, 2018, 01:05:52 am

I presume these may be part of a future CD release on the Hyperion Romantic Piano Concerto series given the pianist and the orchestra.

Scholz Concerto in B major Op.57 for piano and orchestra
Simon Callaghan (piano)
BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra.

Rheinberger Concerto in A flat major Op.94 for piano and orchestra
Simon Callaghan (piano)
BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra
Ben Gernon (conductor)

Thanks for the confirmation. Not a CD, or a radio broadcast, I am interested in.  After an initial enthusiasm and buying the first 20 odd CDs in the series and writing to Edward Perry in the late 1990s in appreciation for this series and other Hyperion releases (in response to which he phoned me at my work and thanked me for my letter), my enthusiasm waned to about 4 purchases in the last 15 years.  Nonetheless, a marvellous series for those interested in largely unplayed romantic piano concertos.
