Title: Gorecki - Oratorio 'Sanctus Adalbertus'
Post by: cjvinthechair on June 17, 2017, 04:58:11 pm
OK - I've cheated; this isn't on You Tube,& a quick scout around doesn't show it coming up much at all, so wondered whether this premiere performance might be of interest:
sorry if I'm way behind as usual, and everyone knows it backwards.

Thanks for this one; I know little about this composer. Did he start as a writer of film music? And what year was this oratorio composed? It's not in my Grove so must have been after 2000?

Not sure anyone knew much about it until his son went through his effects. This 2015 performance appears to be the premiere, anyway.
Film music...Mmm, not particularly, I think. Reputation established forever by Symphony 3, movement 2, but prior to that believe he was just yet another avant-garde composer.

Unless, of course, colleagues know differently ?!
