This works in the UK; not so sure about elsewhere. I was travelling home today when I noticed a car with a registration plate that spelled out the name of a composer - EGK, as in Werner Egk. Keep an eye out and see if you can spot any more. AHO and BAX are out there if you can spot them!

I did once see SUK but not CUI; anyway, it's not often in UK that you see three letters together in a number plate.

Can cheat here, of course, & go for Aa (as in Michael van der..), or even better A (as in Kejian). Might save a lot of time hoping to spot the rather few others !

It works in Australia too.Usually only 3 letters.

In the UK, if you want a vanity plate, it has to comply with standard formats. Though there are ways of bending those: for instance, having the plate printed in such a way that "5" looks like "S". Another trick is to have "11", but put a bolt in the middle so it looks like "H". I'm surprised these are legal.

AFAIK, in the USA you can have anything you like on your number plate, subject to length limits. I recall once seeing (I think it was in Albany NY) a plate that read "CHESS MASTER". I have no idea who it belonged to, but it was a good while ago, so it wasn't Wesley So.

I spotted an AHO yesterday!

Not quite the same thing, but I was stopped at traffic lights this afternoon behind a Scottish Chamber Orchestra van - registration H1 SCO.
