Title: Georges Pretre (1924-2017) Post by: Dundonnell on January 04, 2017, 10:06:09 pm Another veteran conductor has died-Georges Pretre at the age of 92. Perhaps rather forgotten these days but Pretre was a fine conductor both of French music and of opera in Paris, Chicago and elsewhere. Conductors now in their nineties include Louis Fremaux (born August 1921), Stanislaw Skrowaczewski (born October 1923) and Jan Krenz (born July 1926). Four more conductors will reach 90 this year: Herbert Blomstedt, Michael Gielen and Serge Baudo all in July and Raymond Leppard in August. |
