Title: Recording request - Glanert Requiem !
Post by: cjvinthechair on November 02, 2016, 05:39:31 pm
Nederlands Radio 4 : NTR ZaterdagMatinee - Sat., Nov 5th ; 14:00(local time).

World premiere - Detlev Glanert : Requiem voor Jheronimus Bosch

Any chance a colleague could get a good recording of that concert to post ? Would be, at least by me, much appreciated !

Many thanks !

Well - sorry it sparked no interest.
Found the work excellent...my very amateur attempt at recording, probably rather less so. But at least I have it for posterity.

For some reason I didn't see the original post. I caught Glanert's opera on Caligula when it was done by the ENO and was much impressed.

Yes - gather that, & his 'Holzschiff', are held in high esteem. Personally, I fear, while loving sacred choral music, opera does nothing for me...so will stick with the Requiem (& his 4 serious songs - after Brahms).

Sorry cjvinthechair, I didn't register your request at first. In fact it fits in well with what I'm currently doing, which is making a list of all serious music web-radio stations, so I'll have a closer look at the Netherlands Radio 4.

Anyway, now I have managed to use their "listen again" for Saturday the fifth, and I have downloaded the program. Here it is:

Download:
https://ulozto.net/!mgDxIkmvjK4B/glanert-rar (https://ulozto.net/!mgDxIkmvjK4B/glanert-rar)

First (at the 6 minutes 50 second mark) comes a short orchestral work by Glanert entitled "Fragment from Theatrum Bestiarum".

After that, at the 18 minute 0 second mark, comes his "Requiem for H. Bosch", in which the singers participate. This continues until the end of the recording, at the two hours thirty minute mark.

It must be said that this "music" doesn't appeal to some one of my generation. I thought that in 1945 the idea was that the Germans would be sent back to their farms and nothing further would be heard of or from them for the next hundred years. Well obviously, and I think unfortunately, that hasn't happened.

Please feel free to post this recording if you like, either in pieces or as a whole.

The short orchestral work "Fragment from Theatrum Bestiarum". is in fact  only a fragment of the 'Theatrum Bestiarum'
This works duration is a little over 22 min. So it is not piece on it's own.

If necessary I can upload the requiem in  mp3 or wav

The 'Theatrum' is an enjoyable work too, available, as so often, on YT https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_R_CkWp694.

Thanks to those who have now responded to the thread. I've followed Mr. Sydney's lead, & got a rather better recording off the 'listen later' service on Netherlands Radio 4.

Would be a great service to all here if there was a list of classical radio stations which do have such listen later facilities. I certainly don't succeed often enough in translating some of the instructions on these sites to discover the option.
