Title: James MacMillan's Symphony No.4
Post by: Dundonnell on August 17, 2015, 02:44:21 am
Can I ask if anyone recorded the premiere of James MacMillan's Symphony No.4 performed at the BBC Proms on August 3rd by the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra under Donald Runnicles?

And, if so, could it be uploaded here please?

I will certainly add my plea.  And, Hugh Wood: Epithalamion.   Anyone? It would be greatly appreciated.

Added, I listened to the Wood and didn't keep it, but can backtrack for you if no else has it.

Both works, MacMillan and Wood, have been uploaded (in flac) and reviewed in detail here:

Haven't listened to MacMillan yet but Wood is stunning. To write such a fresh and brilliant score at 83 is amazing.
Reminds me of Walton's choral works but Wood's great love Schönberg is also assimilated.

shamus, you have made this a wonderful day!   Works that I thought I'd never live to hear and you have made it possible.
Thank you is all I can say.   ;D
