Title: Canadian Music
Post by: fr8nks on February 09, 2014, 02:02:46 pm
Thanks, Musiclover33, for the Heather Schmidt Piano Concerto No.3. I have become a big fan of her music since JollyRoger introduced me to her compositions. PCs Nos.1 & 4 and Sym. No.1 can be found on You Tube. About 20 additional compositions can be found on the Canadian Music Centre website:

PC No.3 is a welcomed addition to my collection of her music. Many Thanks.

Frank

Seconds on the kudos, I now believe we have access to all 4, but I hear she has written a 5th.
Her melodies are angular, but very captivating and driven..

While you are at the CMC site, please check the music of Robert Turner...this prolific tonal composer created
some fabulous music and should not be missed..

Indeed, Heather Schmidt has written a 5th Piano Concerto (subtitled "Ammolite", 2009) as well as a 6th one (subtitled "Mythos", also from 2009) :

François Morel

Le rituel d'espace

If the title "Ritual of Space" reminds you a bit of "Rite of Spring" - well it might! This is about the most blatant rip-off of Sacre that you are likely to come across.

She is one of those people who can do almost everything .. and with undeniable quality!
The music to her shortfilm 'Midnight Violin'(violin and piano) is extremely beautiful!
