The excellent 2012 production of Schreker's Der Schatzgraber by Nederlands Opera will be released next month on 2 SACDs -

Challenge Classics CC72591

I have removed the off-air recording from the downloads board. With splendid singing and orchestral playing, this new set is far superior to the old Capriccio version, which has coincidentally just been re-released -

I've just received my copy of this wonderful recording, which comes in the form of a little hardback book and includes an essay in English and the complete libretto in German (unfortunately, there's no translation provided, so if you have the Capriccio set you'll need to follow with that booklet). This performance by Netherlands Opera completely eclipses the 1989 set and is a must for anyone interested in the heady world of early-c20 Austro-German opera. At long last, one of Schreker's finest operas is worthily represented for posterity ...
