Title: Martucci Piano Concerto no. 2 etc. from Delta Classics
Post by: kyjo on October 14, 2012, 01:42:57 am
Delta Classics will be releasing a CD of Giuseppe Martucci's wonderful PC 2 in B-flat minor, op. 66 (with its foretastes of Rachmaninov), the Two Nocturnes, op. 70 (presented in both the orchestral and piano solo versions), as well as the Theme and Variations for piano, op. 58 :). The pianist is Pietro Massa and the performers are the Neubrandenberger Philharmonie under Stefan Malzew. Release date is slated for November 13. I have the record (released before, bought in a "physical store"). I found the record good (if not exceptional).
I would just to point out that there is only ONE nocturne in TWO versions (op.70 n.1), that is the only one which was orchestrated by Martucci.
