Lamentations - Oratorio compiled from various XVIII and XIX century Belarusian church music.

Bogatyryov studied with Aladov at the Minsk Music Technical School (1931-32), then with Vasili A. Zolotaryov at the Minsk Conservatory (1932-37). Became the director there and also taught there. His students were E. Glebov, Kortes, Luchenok, Semenyako, Tyrmand, and Vagner.
Composed some of the earliest Belorussian operas and cantatas.  His most successful work is In the Forests of Poles'ye, which won the Stalin Prize in 1941.

Tikotsky was largely self-taught as a composer, but received advice from his friend Deshevov.  After the civil war, settled in Belorussia, where he taught and held admin. positions, including music Director of the Belorussian State Philh. (1944-1945).

Following study at the Warsaw Conservatory (1935-1939) attended the Minsk Conservatory where he was a pupil of V.A. Zolotaryov. Grad in 1941 and did post-grad work with Myaskovksy at the Moscow Conservatory (1945-1946).

Attended the Warsaw Conserv. (1936-1939) then continued his training with A. Bogatyryov at the Minsk Conservatory, graduated in 1948.  Composed the first Belorussian ballet, "the False Bride" and the first Belorussian opera "Morning"

Graduated in 1930 from the Rostov-on-Don music school, where he studied composition with N. Kheifets. Was considered the "father" of Belorussian music; when he applied for permission to emigrate he was ejected from the Composers Union. After he settled in Canada in 1981, his works were banned from performance in the USSR and name stricken from credits on films.
