Volodymir Zubitskiy was born in Goloskovo, a place in the Nikolayev province of the Ukraine, in 1953. He has given us at least four symphonies, in the years 1977, 1979, 1980 and 1989, as well as at least four chamber symphonies.

The present work is listed separately from those symphonies and chamber symphonies; it is the Cantata-Symphony "Chumatskiye pesni" [Ox-Cart Drivers' Songs], traditional, for voices and orchestra (1982).
